Common Name:Common Tsessebe
Type Locality:South Africa, Northern Cape Prov., Kuruman Dist., "Makkwarin" (Matlhwareng) River.
Distribution:Southern Africa in E Angola, N Botswana, Mozambique (extinct), NE Namibia, South Africa (extinct in Northern Cape, North-West, and Mpumalanga Provs., and N KwaZulu-Natal; survives in E Limpopo Prov.; reintroduced within former range), Swaziland (extinct; reintroduced), E and C Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (cd).
Comments:For date of publication see Ellerman et al. (1953:201), who included korrigum in this species. Cotterill (2003c) separated a Zambian population as a separate species and also regarded korrigum as a separate species.
