Type Locality:West Africa.
Distribution:Equatorial Africa from Senegal and Gambia to W Uganda, south to SW Angola.
Status:CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Subgenus Uromanis. The name longicaudatus Brisson, 1756, is unavailable; see Mohr (1961) and Meester (1972a).
