Type Locality:"Guinea".
Distribution:Senegal to Dem. Rep. Congo, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Mozambique; Zanzibar and Pemba.
Status:IUCN 2003 and IUCN/SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:hispida species group. Reviewed by Van Cakenberghe and De Vree (1993b). N. marica is sometimes recognized as a distinct savanna subspecies, but this does not seem justified based on morphology; see Van Cakenberghe and De Vree (1993b). See Hickey and Dunlop (2000).
