Common Name:Mesopotamian Gerbil
Type Locality:Iraq, southwest of Faluja, W bank of Euphrates River, near Amiriya.
Distribution:Iraq and SW Iran in valleys of the Tigris, Euphrates, and Karun Rivers (see Lay and Nadler, 1975).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Subgenus Hendecapleura. Originally described as a subspecies of Dipodillus dasyurus, but later regarded as a distinctive species defined and reviewed by Lay and Nadler (1975), Harrison and Bates (1991), and Pavlinov et al. (1990).
