Although listed as a subspecies of P. collinus (Meester et al., 1986), P. barbouri can be separated by the diagnostic short and bicolored tail, as noted by Shortridge and Carter (1938), its smaller skull and relatively shorter rostrum, much shorter molar rows, and lack of postaxillary teats. |
