Common Name:Altai Birch Mouse
Type Locality:Russia, Altai Krai, Altai Mtns, Seminsk Ridge, Tapuchii (Tapucha).
Distribution:E Kazakhstan and Russia, Altai Krai, NW Altai Mtns; see Kuznetsov (1965), Sludskii (1977) and Shenbrot et al. (1995).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Sokolov et al. (1982, 1987b) gave karyological, and spermatozoal characters that distinguished this species from S. pseudonapaea and S. betulina. Listed by Pavlinov and Rossolimo (1998) and reviewed by Gromov and Erbajeva (1995) and Shenbrot et al. (1995).
