Distribution:USA: Sierra Nevada from Mt. Lassen to San Bernardino Mtns (California); W Nevada.
Status:IUCN Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Subgenus Neotamias. Reviewed by Best et al. (1994c, Mammalian Species No. 478).
