Distribution:Sierra Madre, in S Durango, W Zacatecas, and N Jalisco (Mexico).
Status:IUCN Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Subgenus Neotamias. Formerly included durangae and solivagus, which were considered incertae sedis by Callahan (1980); see durangae. Reviewed by Bartig et al. (1993, Mammalian Species No. 438).
