Type Locality:"Pontianak" [W Kalimantan, Indonesia].
Distribution:Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, and small adjacent islands.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:This species was further described by Müller and Schlegel, in Temminck, Verh. Nat. Gesch. Nederland. Overz. Bezitt., Zool., Mammalia, pp. 87, 100 [1844], pl. 15 [1841] (from which this species is often cited).
