Common Name:Black-eared Squirrel
Type Locality:"Borneo". Restricted to Java by Lyon (1906) and by lectotype designation of Heaney (1985).
Distribution:Sumatra, Java, Borneo, adjacent small islands.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:This species was further described by Müller and Schlegel, in Temminck, Verh. Nat. Gesch. Nederland. Overz. Bezitt., Zool., Mammalia, pp. 87, 88, 98 [1844], pl. 14, fig 4, 5 [1841] (from which this species is often cited). Reviewed by Heaney (1985).
