Common Name:Variegated Squirrel
Type Locality:"...west coast of South America." Restricted by Nelson (1899b:80) to "[El] Salvador."
Distribution:S Chiapas (Mexico), through Central America to Panama.
Status:IUCN Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Subgenus Sciurus; includes goldmani (Hall, 1981:424). Revised by Harris (1937). Reviewed by Best (1995f, Mammalian Species No. 500).
