Type Locality:Peru, Loreto, Tarapoto, opposite mouth of Rio Curaray, Rio Napo.
Distribution:Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, west of Rio Napo, from Rio Putumayo south to Rio Marañon, west to Rio Santiago.
Status:CITES – Appendix II.
Comments:S. nigricollis species group. Raised to rank of full species by Groves (2001c), contra Hershkovitz (1977:628).
