SPECIES Anathana ellioti

Author:Waterhouse, 1849.
Actual Date:1850
Citation:Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1849: 107.
Common Name:Madras Treeshrew
Type Locality:India, Andhra Pradesh, "hills between Cuddapah and Nellox" (= Velikanda Range).
Distribution:India south of the Ganges River.
Status:CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Comments:Museum material of Anathana is very limited. Lyon (1913) named pallida and wroughtoni as full species based on minor pelage differences; Corbet (in Corbet and Hill, 1992) is probably correct in his assumption that these three "intergrade without definable boundaries."
