Type Locality:Brazil, Rio de Janeiro.
Distribution:Colombia, Venezuela, Guianas, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, NW Argentina.
Status:IUCN 2003 and IUCN/SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc) as Anoura caudifera.
Comments:Some specimens previously referred to caudifer may represent luismanueli; see Molinari (1994); also see Cadena et al. (1998). Often spelled "caudifera" (see Handley, 1984), but the correct spelling is caudifer according to Article 31.2.2 of the Code of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999).
