Type Locality:"Rio Grande do Sul;" identified as Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Taquara, by Thomas (1888a).
Distribution:SE Brazil (Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Comments:Previously considered a subspecies of M. americana. Reviewed by Pine (1977).
