“Blue Notes” Goes Green

This will be the last published issue of Notes and Notices. The first issue was published on September 11, 1970. Since that date, with few exceptions, it has been published 3 times a week bringing items of common interest to the campus community.

For old-time sake, this issue has been printed using the same font, layout, header design and blue paper used for the inaugural issue in 1970. It quickly became referred to as “BLUE NOTES” by many on campus because of the blue paper it was printed on. At the end of 1992 we moved to white recycled paper to be more environmentally friendly.

The stated intent of its creation was to conserve resources and reduce the number of individual announcements sent through campus mail. While the demise of Notes and Notices clearly represents the end of an era, it is very appropriate that it has been replaced by the Bucknell Message Center, an electronic communications tool that much more effectively supports the original intent of Notes and Notices.

It has been a privilege to serve as the publisher of Notes and Notices. Many thanks to the Administrative Services staff members who worked so diligently over the years to be sure that Notes and Notices was published and delivered on time.

P.S. For those of you moved to tears, please note that the paper used for this issue is all natural, and may be used to blot those tears. [contents]
